About the Artist
400 Proof is an Atlanta instrumental group formed in 2020 after its members connected while performing along the BeltLine. The band created its own description for the sound—R.U.M., or Rhythmically Unchained Music—a fitting name for an approach that moves freely among smooth jazz, neo-soul, Latin rhythm, pop, R&B, and blues.
The members bring substantial individual experience, with credits and shared stages connected to artists and ensembles such as Kirk Whalum, Donald Brown, Branford Marsalis, Outkast, and the Georgia Symphony. Original releases including the Pour'D Nicely project reflect a band that values strong melodies and accessible grooves while keeping improvisation and live interplay at the center.
