Kitchen Assistants / Prep Cooks

St. James Live and SJ Cafe & Cocktails are seeking dependable Kitchen Assistants and Prep Cooks to support daily food preparation and kitchen operations.

The ideal candidate is organized, hardworking and committed to maintaining quality, cleanliness and food-safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients according to recipes and kitchen specifications
• Wash, cut, portion and organize ingredients
• Assist with station setup before service
• Label, date and properly store prepared foods
• Maintain clean and organized prep areas
• Follow food-safety and sanitation procedures
• Assist cooks with basic food preparation as assigned
• Restock kitchen stations and supplies
• Rotate ingredients according to proper storage procedures
• Assist with receiving and organizing food deliveries
• Maintain equipment and work areas in sanitary condition
• Complete opening, closing and cleaning assignments
• Support the kitchen team during high-volume service

Requirements

• Previous restaurant kitchen or food-preparation experience preferred
• Basic food-preparation skills
• Understanding of food safety and sanitation preferred
• Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately
• Strong attention to cleanliness and organization
• Dependable and punctual work habits
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Ability to lift and move kitchen supplies as needed
• Availability to work evenings, weekends and holidays
