Porter / Janitorial Support

Job brief

St. James Live and SJ Cafe & Cocktails are seeking a dependable Porter / Janitorial Support team member to help maintain the cleanliness, safety and overall appearance of the venue.

This position supports both guest-facing and behind-the-scenes areas and is important to maintaining the high standards expected throughout the St. James Live experience.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain dining areas, hallways and common spaces
• Clean and restock guest and employee restrooms
• Sweep, mop and vacuum designated areas
• Empty trash and recycling containers
• Clean doors, glass, fixtures and other high-touch surfaces
• Monitor guest areas throughout service for cleanliness
• Respond promptly to spills and other cleaning needs
• Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies
• Assist with setup and breakdown for events when needed
• Maintain backstage, service and employee areas as assigned
• Follow proper chemical-handling and safety procedures
• Report maintenance or repair concerns to management
• Assist with opening and closing cleaning routines
• Help ensure the venue presents a clean and professional appearance at all times

Requirements

• Previous janitorial, porter, hospitality or facility-maintenance experience preferred
• Strong attention to detail
• Dependable and self-motivated
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to prioritize cleaning needs during active service
• Knowledge of basic cleaning procedures and products
• Ability to follow safety instructions
• Ability to stand, walk, bend and lift throughout a shift
• Ability to move cleaning equipment and supplies
• Availability to work evenings, weekends and holidays
