Job brief

St. James Live and SJ Cafe & Cocktails are seeking experienced Bartenders who can deliver excellent beverages and exceptional hospitality in a fast-paced dining and live entertainment environment.

The ideal candidate has strong cocktail and beverage knowledge, works efficiently under pressure and understands that great bartending involves both technical skill and guest engagement.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve cocktails, beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages
• Follow established recipes, portions and presentation standards
• Provide friendly and knowledgeable guest service
• Make beverage recommendations based on guest preferences
• Maintain accurate tabs and process payments
• Monitor guest alcohol consumption and follow responsible-service procedures
• Prepare bar stations before service and restock throughout shifts
• Maintain cleanliness and organization behind the bar
• Monitor inventory and communicate product shortages
• Assist with receiving and organizing beverage supplies as needed
• Coordinate with servers and other bartenders during high-volume periods
• Follow sanitation, food-safety and alcohol-service requirements
• Complete opening, closing and assigned side work

Requirements

• Previous professional bartending experience
• Strong working knowledge of cocktails, spirits, beer and wine
• Ability to prepare beverages quickly and consistently
• Excellent communication and guest-service skills
• Strong cash-handling and order-accuracy skills
• Ability to multitask during high-volume service
• Professional appearance and demeanor
• Knowledge of responsible alcohol service
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift bar supplies as needed
• Availability to work evenings, weekends and holidays
